 These elegant ducks and ducklings are carved from bamboo root which is just as dense and solid as wood. As each carving is modelled, the carver decides the shape of the bird from looking at the shape of the un-carved root, making each piece unique. Fairly traded from Bali in Indonesia, which has one of the oldest breeds of domesticated ducks, these carvings are a traditional celebration of their long standing relationship. Due to the hand carving, the size and stature of both the ducks and ducklings do vary, but always of the same high quality.
