A cute birch wood Robin brooch pin, made by be in my workshop in East Sussex. It has a traditional brooch fastening so can be worn on any fabrics, light or heavy; pin it to a shawl, a sweater, a top or a jacket or coat.
It is full of natural charm as it's made from layers of real birch wood laminated and layered with resin then as a finishing touch it is set with a beady black glass eye.
This batch are a little bigger than previous ones, measuring approx 4.55 x 2.5 cms.
The colours are brownish grey, light cream and the breasts have been enhanced with a safe water based pigment to make them a little darker/brighter and more representative of a robin. Please note this is natural wood so there will be some patterning to the wood as would be expected., .
Each one is unique as it is made individually so no two are the same. Other than a drill to seat the glass eye, all the energy I use is myself. Everything is hand cut.
It is presented in a cute brand labelled gift box so perfect as a little gift that's ready to go!
In traditional folklore the Robin was considered to be a holy bird and it is also associated with missing someone and the loss of a loved one. The belief is that if you see one it means your loved one is close by. it could also be the perfect gift for someone who has suffered loss or simply to say I miss you.
